Everyone wishes that they could travel more. To some people, there could be nothing on earth more enjoyable than slapping on a backpack and setting off into the world, knowing that they don’t have to be back home anytime soon. Alas, this is the real world, and unless you’re one of those lucky rich and famous folks, this is just unrealistic. However, that doesn’t mean that your travel dreams can’t come true, oh no! They most definitely can. You just might need to get a bit creative to make them happen, is all.
Slash the Costs
Some people have the idea that travelling is always expensive, but that’s just not true. Sure, if you want to eat in Michelin star restaurants every night, then you better have a fat bank balance. But most destinations can be visited on the cheap. Take New York, a common “I’d love to go there but can’t afford it” city. It’s absolutely possible to visit the Big Apple – and have an unforgettable time – without spending every penny you have. The key is just to slash the costs where possible (example: taking buses rather than taxis, avoiding pricy bars, and so on).
Most people want to travel. But then they also want to have the latest smartphone, new clothes, dinner out on the town each week, and so on. You can’t have everything in life! If you want to travel, then you’re going to have to give something up. For our money, it’s worthwhile living a cheap existence for a few months and then going to a destination you’ve always wanted to visit. You’ll find that it’s more than possible to raise money within six months if you just cut out a few luxuries. Take a look at where your money is currently going, and you’ll quickly see that there are plenty of places to cut back your spending. And all that money then goes straight into your travel fund!
With that being said, it’s also true that booking things as early as possible typically results in the best deal. So if you have your heart set on travelling at one particular time of year, then it’s probably not wise to wait until you have all of your money before booking. Instead, take a look at getting money from other sources, such as a loan. There are poor credit loans available, so you should qualify even if you’ve made past financial errors. With the money in the bank, you’ll be able to get your travels booked, and then slowly pay off the balance each month.
Having Enough Money
It’s true that there are always ways to travel cheaply. Indeed, in the vast majority of the world, even having small amounts of money is enough! However, it’s worth keeping in mind that if these are your travel dreams, then it’s worth being a little bit patient, and ensuring that you only travel once you have all your cash in order. You might only get one chance, so do it right!
